Public Internet access can be provided to the Private Network (VPN), by subscribing to an optional protected Internet Transit connection - enhanced IT Security protection and a full suite of Unified Threat Management services are avaiable as cost options.
Clearly, these public Internet links do not offer the same level of security or performance as private ADSL links, but have the advantage of facilitating mobility and global reach.
The connection over the public internet will be fully encrypted using either a CPE running IPSEC or, if it is a native PC running Windows XP, an IPSec session will be established with no additional 3rd party software required to create a secure connection. Users are authenticated using 802.1 X 509 certificates.
Internet tunnels are terminated on a VPN concentrator and firewall by AlwaysON before being connected to the customer's private VPN. A secure DMZ is created on the Firewall to host Microsoft ISA/IAS server to control authentication which can be integrated into the customer’s Active Directory.
