When is CCTV truely CCTV? Print E-mail

Reading, Berks - 4 May, 2007 CCTV or Closed Circuit Television is rarely that when connected to the Internet.  In order for an IP CCTV system to remain a closed circuit it has to be connected to a Private VPN otherwise it is open to the World Wide Web.

Questions are being asked in the insurance world about the security of CCTV systems utilising corporate networks and Broadband connections, the same applies to Alarms over IP. Best practise advice is to use a third party Private Managed MPLS – VPN, even better use one where failovers can be delivered via a Private 3G or GPRS APN connected to the VPN.

So what does all that mean I hear you asking! Basically don’t risk using an open Broadband connection but don’t worry there is now a very simple way to achieve this, and its economical and can be run from revenue accounts avoid big up front capital costs.

AlwaysON Group, the fastest growing telecomms network provider in The Sunday Times Tech 100, and IP Security Award Winner at the IIPSEC 07 Conference has created a solution that overcomes all the potential pitfalls of IP for an installer.

The pitfalls revolve around line ordering, bandwidth, provisioning, managing the connection, delivering the wireless failover or primary route, maintenance and service and most important billing. AlwaysON provide all this in one very easy to use service developed with the experience of a dedicated team with over 60 years in the Security Industry. The fully resilient and BS compliant solution offers a complete solution and removes the necessity to source from multiple suppliers. This is a true one stop shop for ON Demand Security IP connection.

The COMPASS Ordering portal makes setting up a VPN child’s play; you almost only have to know the postcode of the site you are installing to get connected. Even installing the router takes a matter of minutes and requires no additional skills to those already held by an alarm or CCTV Installer and it is provided as part of the set up cost.

The service overcomes one of the other problems the industry has encountered, since the advent of 3G and GPRS in addition to GSM usage by the industry in alarm and Lone Worker applications. That of sim card management and billing.

We are sure you will want to know more if you are serious about CCTV and IP Alarm transmission. The easiest way to find out is to visit www.alwaysongroup.com and IFSEC at the NEC from 20th May to 24th May. You will find AlwaysON and Orange in Hall 19 Stand 17141.
